The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking highly qualified individuals who are interested in serving their community either as a sworn officer or as a civilian employee. Competitive Starting Salary (based on position and qualifications)
• Deputy Sheriff: $14.12-$15.27 Hourly DOQ
• Detention Officer (non-sworn): $14.12-$15.27 Hourly DOQ
• Telecommunicator: $12.56-$14.12 Hourly DOQ

Basic Applicant Requirements
• United States Citizen
• Minimum 21 years of age at application
• Minimum High School Graduate or equivalent
• Good physical condition (essential functions/job tasks available on request)
• No felony convictions
• Valid North Carolina Driver License or ability to obtain same prior to employment.
• Applicant must also pass a pre-employment background investigation, medical evaluation, psychological evaluation, polygraph examination and drug screen.
• BLET Certification for Sworn Officers
Hiring Process
• Submit County Application
• Interview with Division Captain (when position applied for becomes available)
• Supervisory Board, Administrative Board, and/or Written Testing
• Begin Background Investigation with Sheriff’s Human Resources upon Division Captain’s request (This process may take up to 2 months)
Phase I – complete background paperwork and background investigation
Phase II – Conditional Offer and completion of post-offer testing
