ANONYMOUS DONATION TO K-9 COP FUND
A Henderson County resident who wishes to remain anonymous decided to make a $5000.00 surprise contribution to the Henderson County Sheriffs’ K-9 Cop Fund. The donation is made in the memory of William Kells Browne who was a veteran of the Viet Nam War. Mr. Browne was 56 years of age when he passed away on December 24th of 2006. It is the wish of the anonymous donor to make the contribution in his memory and also as a challenge to others in the community to give to the K-9 Cop Fund.

Sheriff Davis was particularly moved by this unsolicited contribution. “It is very encouraging to us when people are impressed enough with the services that we provide, that they find within themselves a way to show their appreciation, and at the same time, help the community as well. We are grateful and appreciative for this memorial contribution.”

The K-9 Cop Fund is a special fund set up for individuals wishing to contribute to the Sheriffs canine team. These funds are used for the purchase of canines, canine health care, specialized canine training, certifications, and any equipment needed to enhance the effectiveness and reduce the cost of canine operations. The address to make inquiries or to send donations is: Captain Steve Carter, Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, 201 North Main St., Hendersonville, NC 28792.

Sheriff Rick Davis announced that a citizen wishing to remain anonymous donated $1125.00 to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office K-9 team in memory of recently slain NC Highway Patrol Trooper David Blanton. The donor requested that this donation be used to purchase a ballistic vest for a canine member of the Sheriff’s Office.
